"Connection through movement, conversation, and chiya."
Chiya Guff Run Club started with a simple idea: that running should be for everyone, and that the best conversations happen on the move. Founded in Hobart in 2024, CGRC was born from a desire to create a space where strangers become regulars, and regulars become friends — united by movement, shared stories, and a cup of chiya at the finish.
We're a community-driven initiative that goes beyond physical fitness. Every session is an opportunity to connect across cultures, challenge yourself without judgment, and find your rhythm — whether you're a seasoned runner or someone who's never laced up for anything beyond the bus. We don't time you. We don't rank you. We just run.
What makes CGRC different is what happens after the run. "Chiya" — tea — is central to our identity. The post-run catch-up, the shared warmth, the conversation that outlasts the kilometres: that's where the real community is built. We're proud of what we've created, and we're only just getting started.
Run the Bridge
New Year Run
Three ideas that guide every run, every event, and every cup of tea.
Chiya Guff Run Club is a unique community-driven initiative that goes beyond running. Established to promote physical health, mental well-being, and cultural inclusivity, the club offers a welcoming space for individuals from all walks of life. With every session, we emphasise connection through movement, conversation, and the shared tradition of enjoying "chiya" (tea) together — because the run only gets you halfway there.
Our mission is to build a supportive and inclusive community through fitness, friendship, and cultural exchange. We foster an environment where everyone feels welcome — inspiring non-runners and beginners to embrace physical activity without intimidation. At the heart of our club is the celebration of diversity, creating a safe and vibrant space for people from all cultural backgrounds to connect, grow, and push their limits together.
CGRC was born from a desire to create a platform where running isn't just about fitness, but about forming meaningful connections. Larger running events can feel overwhelming for beginners or those who don't identify as "runners." Our smaller, personal gatherings address this directly — providing a sense of belonging for individuals who may feel out of place elsewhere. A supportive environment where non-runners can confidently start their journey and build lasting friendships.
Two people who believed that a better community was one run away.
